GCSEs

GCSEs are the main qualifications students take in Years 10 & 11. They are available in a wide range of subjects from English to Engineering, Maths to Manufacturing, Sociology to Science.

It usually takes 2 years to complete a full GCSE. They are graded A* - G and assessment can be by a mixture of exam, coursework and assignments.

GCSEs in applied subjects such as Engineering, Applied Business, Leisure and Tourism are equivalent to 2 ordinary GCSEs.

You can also take GCSE Short courses. These take half the time of a full GCSE but are at the same standard and are graded in the same way.

You can retake GCSEs at 17/18, usually alongside another course.
