These are level 2 courses. They are offered by different awarding bodies; BTEC and OCR.

These qualifications are designed to help students find out more about an area of work and begin to develop the skills needed for a job in that field. They generally last one year.

Courses are available in many different subjects for example you can take courses in business, IT, engineering, hospitality and catering, animal care, travel and tourism and many more.

Entry requirements vary but you usually need some GCSEs to start on one of these courses.

After completing a level 2 course, you can move on to a course at a higher level or perhaps start work or training.
