If you are pregnant, it is important that you look after yourself and your baby. Taking these steps will help:
- Visit your GP surgery where a midwife can help you prepare for the birth and care of your baby.
- Talk with people you trust such as your partner, your parents or your friends. Sometimes, it helps to talk to someone who is not directly involved, such as a counsellor from the family planning or health clinic.
- There are a number of practical things to be sorted out to ensure the best start for you and your baby. Your personal adviser can provide information and the contacts you may need to sort out your education, work, training, housing and finances.
