Training - more choices

Training is available in all sorts of different ways.

Here are some other possibilities:

Entry to Employment - E2E

On E2E you can develop your skills and confidence, find out more about careers that interest you, get help with job hunting and interviews and more. Talk to your personal adviser for more information on E2E.

Programme Led Apprentices - PLA

Most Apprentices are employed. However sometimes you might have to wait to find an employer, but want to get started on other learning for the work you want to do. Or you might need some extra support before an employer will take you on. In either case you might start on a PLA, where you start the learning you need for your apprenticeship.

Training at work

You will usually undergo some sort of training at work. This could be anything from an apprenticeship programme with day or block release to college, a planned training programme with your employer to basic training to do one particular job. Taking part in training of whatever sort will help you develop your skills and improve your future prospects.

If you are 16 or 17, you might be entitled to paid time to study while you are at work.  Check out the details on Time For Study & Training here.

Training through learning

You can enrol on part time courses at your local college. These are available to all age groups and can help you develop either your work related skills or perhaps learn new qualifications out of interest or personal development.

Learndirect offers flexible learning opportunities.  You can enrol on a course and then continue with your study wherever you have access to the internet.

There are also other distance learning courses, look at the web links for more info.
