Life is full of the unexpected and if your GCSE results have taken you by surprise, Connexions can help. Personal advisers will be available in schools, colleges and Connexions centres across Cambridgeshire during the results period to make you sure you don’t abandon your dreams.

If your grades are higher than expected – well done! It’s not too late to put great results to good use. There is a range of general, vocational and occupational courses at varying levels that you can apply for and you may now meet the entry requirements for a course that you may have thought out of reach. But what if your grades are lower than expected? First of all, don’t panic. Many colleges will offer the option of starting the course at a lower level and/or retaking GCSEs alongside. Employers may be prepared to be flexible if they have made a conditional job offer and your grades are not too far off what they asked for. As each case is different the best thing to do is to contact the employer or college directly – persevere, as phone lines are likely to be very busy.
